Why Does a BioDom 15 Boiler Show “Alarm Press”?
A BioDom 15 pellet boiler displays the “Alarm Press” error when its pressure switch (pressostat) is triggered or the electronics detect incorrect pressure or draught readings. This is a safety system that stops the boiler to help prevent smoke entering the room or damage to the equipment.
Common causes of the “Alarm Press” error
- Blocked chimney or flue: soot, ash or foreign objects can reduce draught. The boiler cannot discharge smoke effectively, so pressure rises in the combustion chamber.
- A dirty boiler: if the heat exchanger, burner or smoke-extraction fan has not been cleaned for a long time, airflow may be disrupted and the pressostat may detect an abnormal reading.
- A damaged pressostat or tube: the transparent silicone tube connecting the pressure sensor to the combustion chamber may be blocked by condensation or ash, or may be cracked.
- A faulty smoke-extraction fan: if the fan turns too slowly or does not work, the required negative pressure is not created in the combustion chamber.
- A boiler door that is not sealed properly: a worn door seal or a door that is not fully closed can let extra air into the system and disturb the pressure balance.
Unable to clear the error, or does it keep coming back? Contact a professional to identify the cause and restore the boiler's operation safely.
